BACKGROUND

The Mombasa Catholic CBHC services was founded in 1996 by Bro. John T. Mullen as a non profitable  faith based program, under the Catholic Archdiocese of Mombasa. It started its operation in Mikindani Catholic being its head office. We are a community based health care programme whereby we offer preventive, curative and supportive services aiming at improving the quality of life through quality health care to the marginalised and the less fortunate patients.

Over the years, CBHC has operated as an exclusive program targeting the HIV infected and affected, poor, elderly and orphans in the informal settlements. Due to the trend of reducing donor funds, CBHC board saw the need of making its services sustainable and has moved to a more integrated healthcare provision approach as well as designing sustainable approaches. With this, we have two more health satellites both in Chaani and Mbungoni (Bombolulu) which offer the same services.

Mombasa Catholic CBHC Services is  guided by 5-yearly strategic plans which helps in facilitating roles  by providing technical support, capacity building, coordination, advocacy and networking for its members. Mombasa catholic CBHC promotes human rights and gender equality as stipulated in the Strategic Plan core values. Our employment procedures provide equal opportunity for all gender and religion.
